Damon walked towards the auditorium with his backpack full of homework. He still wasn't quite sure how he got detention; he had just corrected his history teacher, and BOOM, detention. Having this be his first detention experience, he didn't know what to expect. Hopefully it wasn't as bad as people made it seem. Instead of viewing it as a punishment, he was trying to look at this as a good time to study and complete essays. The only problem was that he had a free period before, and in it, watched the next two episodes of Attack on Titan that he was on. A lot had happened, and it was running through his head. As he sat down, one of his least favorite people walked into the room. The person was on his basketball team, and was always rude to Damon. If only he had a friend with him to get through detention. People were still coming in, hopefully one would be a friendly face. Even if they weren't allowed to talk, like all of the detentions in books, TV shows, and movies, it would still be nice to just be sitting by someone nice. But once everybody made it through the door, Damon was very disappointed. On top of not finding a friend to sit with him, the guy on his basketball team sat behind him. Damon wouldn't have been surprised if stuff started getting thrown at his back.

"Aaaaaahhhhhhhh! This sucks," said AJ out loud. "Seriously I think that some teachers just need to find a way to relax." He looked around and saw that people were looking at him strangely, not that he cared. AJ recalled how he had gotten detention. It was just a story, nothing to get that upset over. All that happened was that he wasn't paying attention in class and started writing was that such a bad thing. It didn't even involve the teacher or school, it was just about his pets. AJ trudged into the room where detention was.
He had gotten there around the same time as everyone else and chose a seat in the back hoping to just sit and listen to music. He decided not to rewrite what he had been working on, since it didn't really get developed that much and he could just work on it later. He looked around and saw that a few people stood out more that others. The guy behind him with red hair was like that and AJ recognized him as being on the basketball team. The guy seemed like he was looking for someone. AJ was about to introduce himself but hesitated when he saw something was bothering him.

"Hey, hey, hey! Not so rough!" Vargas exclaimed, kicking out as he was being dragged down the hall by the sleeve of his jacket, by a soggy teacher. "It was just a little water, you act like you'd melt or something!" Suddenly, he remembered that there were, in fact, witches in wonderland. "Heh... my bad.." Vargas defeatedly slinked into the detention hall. Walking over to a desk, he sat quietly, feeling a bit guilty for his prank in a place where people could REALLY get hurt...
"Ugggghhhh.." Vargas sat, not sure what the purpose of detention was in the first place. Leaning over to the red head sitting beside him, he tapped the boy on the shoulder. "Hmm.. hey, do you know the time?" Seeing the boy was clearly in a bad mood, Vargas became a bit curious about what was troubling him. "Hey... is something the matter? I know its none of my business, but can I at least help, in any way..?" Waiting for a response, Vargas admitted why he was there in the first place.

Damon stared at the boy in front of him that had just talked. Staring is rude he reminded himself and turned to look away. He had greater things to worry about, seeing as he heard the basketball player snickering behind him. But it made everything better when a male that he had overlooked sat next to him. Maybe things were better than they seemed.
The other boy surprised Damon by asking for the time. He was about to speak, but was interrupted when he asked if something was wrong, then explain why he was there. His cause of detention seemed much more reasonable than Damon's.
"That sucks, but I can see why you would play that joke. I got in here for just talking back to a teacher. And yes, a boy is sitting behind me that is mean to me, trips me and things like that," Damon explained to the stranger. Maybe he could be a future friend. "My name is Damon, what is yours?" he asked the other student.
Damon's mind wandered back to Attack on Titan as he waited for a reply. Having a past of being a fumbler, he started messing with the strap of his bag.

"Nice to meetya, Damon, my name's Vargas. Vargas Zuko. And I happen to have a few... tricks, up my sleeve, and I mean that literally," Snickering to himself as Vargas touched the circular crest on his jacket sleeve and then touched his desk, warping the wood only slightly. "I'm still an amateur when it comes to my ability, but that doesn't mean I cant wreak havoc if I wanted to." Although he didnt fancy a Samarital lifestyle, a good deed or two wouldnt hurt, all he had was time on his hands at this point.
"So." Vargas continued, looking forward at the empty desks and wall ahead, attempting not to draw attention from the snide boy behind Damon," that kid picks on you, hm? Not to pry, but you haven't dealt with him yourself already? Does he pick on you a lot? I mean, its perfectly alright if you're...afraid of him." Not noticing the serious tone that entered his voice, Vargas brought those last few words down to a whisper, so that no one would hear their somewhat sensitive conversation. Waiting for a reply from his new acquaintance, Vargas pulled out his sketchbook and jotted down a short note of the antagonistic boy by one of his 'portraits' of Damon.

"I am not afraid of him!" Damon whispered loudly, then winced. Hopefully the boy behind had not heard. "I haven't dealt with him because he'll bring all his friends to beat me up and it wont be fair," He explained, wishing that the other boy would understand. Unlike most of the other kids, he didn't have a power that would help him in this situation. In fact, he didn't even know if he had a power. He wondered what he would even want his power to be. It would be cool, he thought, to have really good instincts. Suddenly, Damon felt something hit his back. The boy behind him had started throwing something at him, and he wasn't quite sure if he wanted to know what it was. Soon after, he felt another something hit his back, then another.

AJ had turned back around to face the front of the classroom but was keeping a close ear on the conversation happening behind him. He could not stand for bullying so he felt he needed to help whether they wanted him to or not. AJ looked around and saw that everyone was in their own little world and that they just kept to themselves. As much as he hated to admit it, sometimes when people ignore the world around them, it can actually be a good thing. It made moving around undetected easier.
AJ ripped out a piece of paper from a notebook and begin writing on it. "If you want to get back at this guy I can help, but in order to do so, the teacher is gonna have to leave. Just tell me to and I can make that happen." He the folded the paper and wrote the words "READ QUIETLY" on the front then passed it behind him, hoping that it would be noticed.

"Watch. This is a science, not a power." Intercepting the passed piece of paper, Vargas drew a small circle on it, the same crest embedded on his jacket sleeve, and activated it, setting the note alight. "See?" He further explained that unlike magical powers and elementals, this ability can be learned, and mastered, with practise. He had not known what the note said, but could easily have made a guess as to what it was about. Sitting back, Vargas let the red headed boy ruminate on these facts as he wrote a note of his own.
Writing as fast as he could, Vargas finished the note, and folded it neatly, passing it to the front. "Psst. Read this." Passing up the note, he paid special attention to the supervising teacher, who had resided to a book, glancing up only after the new note was exchanged. On the note, read "I know what you want, and I'll tell you now. Just because you know me, doesn't give you an excuse to be nosy. Got it, Snoopy?" Now feeling finished with that matter of business, Vargas looked at the boy behind Damon, a look of pure malice on his face, as he mouthed the words, "Watch out".
