Being Sneaky = Trouble
Words: 217 | Tagged: Selena| Status: Complete After art, Taylor had a free period. Looking around the halls, book in hand, she didn't see anyone. She creeped into the basement and followed her usual route to her little hiding spot. It was so dark, but Taylor had memorized it. She would cast a spell her father had taught her so she could read. It would allow her to see in the dark for a while. Her father used it a lot for his night shifts. It would always give him an advantage over his enemy. It's so cold right now, but I'll be there soon she thought. She had some blankets in her little area, so she could stay warm. Whenever she would leave her hiding spot, she would place her easy concealment spell. Taylor couldn't wait to read her book. She needed to find out if Sarah would make it out of the trading post, and if Richard would help her or not. She had finished The Infinite Sea at lunch, and started Restoring Harmony once she was finished making cupcakes in home ec. She finally made it to her spot, and before she settled down, she used her spell to see and to reveal the area. As soon as she was able to, though, she saw a form in her hiding spot.

Selena rested one hand on her stomach lovingly. Her parents, and her best friend Max, were angry that she had been "irresponsible" enough to get pregnant at her age (she was only eighteen- the horror!), and she too wondered how the child would affect her life. Could you go to college and take care of a kid, too? But she couldn't bring herself to hate or even dislike her daughter. The drawback was that she'd been really, really tired for the past month. Last class, she'd been almost falling asleep. It seemed like a blessing from heaven that this class was a free period. She had tried flopping outside the school, on a bench or something, to catch some zzz's, but it had been too loud. Apparently the sight of a senior girl who was eight months pregnant sleeping on a bench was enough to make people talk. So she'd come back inside and tried to sleep in the bathroom. But that had just felt really strange so she'd decided to walk home to sleep when she'd happened to pass a door with a "staff only" sign. This would mean privacy! The door had been unlocked, so she'd lumbered down. She was afraid she fall down the stairs, what with her pregnancy messing with her balance the way it did, but she'd somehow made it down safely. It had been really dark, and she'd staggered around trying to find a light switch. She'd happened to find a little hidey hole- actually, she'd nearly fallen into it- and had decided to stay there. She was so tired she wasn't sure she could walk another step. Just now, a light had woken her. She'd snapped awake, her first thought of her daughter. Her hands had flown to her stomach. As she caressed her swollen belly lovingly, the invader newcomer came into view. Selena watched her warily, waiting for her to speak first.
(~Sorry this is so long. It got a little out of hand...~)

Being Sneaky = Trouble
Words: 156 | Tagged: Selena| Status: Complete At first, Taylor wanted to just sneak away. Then curiosity got the better of her, and she used magic to cast a light. "Umm, who are you?" Taylor asked, in a whisper. She realized the figure (a girl) had been sleeping. Looking around, Taylor very much wanted to get out of here, now that her spot was taken. Maybe she could go to the roof or the courtyard. She saw the girl touching something; looking a little closer, she saw the the girl was rubbing an over-sized belly. She must be pregnant Taylor thought. From what Taylor could see, the mysterious girl looked very pretty. I bet she hangs out with Kylie. That would make it clear why she is pregnant Taylor thought, judging the girl she barely knew. Finding a sturdy box, she sat down. Shivering, Taylor pulled her sweater closer to her body, dropping her book to the floor, making quite a loud sound.

Selena watched, trying to hide her fascination, as the newcomer created a light, seemingly from out of nowhere. Was it magic? She wondered who this girl was. There was a book tucked under her arm, which was always a good sign in Selena's mind. Selena wondered if it was this person who'd cleared out the hiding spot. Maybe she should leave, since she was cleary intruding. But the girl had made conversation... so she'd talk now and politely exit the scene later. "I'm Selena. Who are you?" The girl sat down on a box, shivering. Selena noticed a blanket by her feet a tried to reach to get it and offer it. But her stomach, swollen and huge, didn't allow the movement. Blushing, she leaned back again. There was a loud slam and she jumped, thinking someone else had come in, but no, it was just the new girl's book.

Being Sneaky = Trouble
Words: 97 | Tagged: Selena| Status: Complete Taylor could tell her cheeks turned red. Picking up the book, she hoped Selena wouldn't give her a bad label. They were so easy to receive at her school. Selena tried to give her a blanket, but failed, and so Taylor thought it would be okay to help herself to a blanket. They were hers, after all. "My name is Taylor. Why're you down here?" Taylor asked, finally warm. She looked down at her watch, wondering how much time they had left in their free period. Wondering how Selena got pregnant, she looked at her belly again.

Selena had a feeling she was intruding. Taylor didn't seem to want her... why couldn't she have picked somewhere else to hide out and catch up on her sleep? "Well, I was really tired, and so I wanted to get some rest... but it was too loud outside so I came here. If I'm intruding I'll leave." She had noticed Taylor go and at her watch. It was clear she wasn't wanted. She just wondered if Taylor would decide to kick her out or not. She also noticed Taylor's glance at her round stomach. A light blush colored her cheeks. Even though she loved her baby more than anything she was a little embarrassed that she'd gotten pregnant so young. Everyone else seemed to think she was an idiot for her actions. She hoped Taylor didn't express such views. It would be nice to have at least one person who didn't judge. Between Max and her parents, she was completely sick of the mean remarks.

Being Sneaky = Trouble
Words: 138 | Tagged: Selena| Status: Complete "Congratulations," Taylor said, adding a few seconds later, "I mean, about your baby. And don't worry; you're not intruding. It is nice to have someone to talk to." To her, it looked like Selena had a feeling of uneasiness. Fumbling with her hands under the blanket, she went over ways that Selena could've gotten pregnant, trying to eliminate the unreasonable ones. A pain was coming from Taylor's feet. Unfortunately, her beautiful shoes were a little too small in height, and in the little bit of light she could see a red mark. Kicking off her shoes, she wondered if she should invite Selena to sit by her for lunch or to come in the basement again tomorrow. "Do you want to meet down here again tomorrow?" She asked, thinking that you can't make dreams happen by dreaming them.

Selena was kind of stunned. Taylor was really the first to congratulate her on her pregnancy. It seemed the first question was always "are you sure?" And she always was tempted to scream, "no, of course not, I'm only swollen like a blimp. I'm only a little suspicious!" And then they usually said, "you're ruining your future!" And then she, fueled by hormones, would usually run off and cry. Now she felt like crying, too, but for different reasons. "Thanks, Taylor. And extra thanks for not asking 'are you sure?' That seems to be the classic question, even though it's a little dumb." She smiled, placing a hand on her stomach. Even thought the hormones and the size were serious cons, she loved her child.
And she was stunned again. Selena had though Taylor had just been keeping her around and not kicking her out out of politeness. Cause really, who wanted Selena, the irresponsible blimp, hanging around? Taylor was a nice girl. Selena had heard she sometimes got bullied, although honestly she couldn't imagine why. It was like kicking a toddler or a puppy- cruel and completely impossible to imagine actually happening. "Sure," she said, hastily adding, "if you want me."

Being Sneaky = Trouble
Words: 190 | Tagged: Selena| Status: Complete "Of course I want you. Oh wow. That sounds really wrong and I did not mean it in that way at all. Oh, and you're welcome. Is it a boy or a girl? If you were going to get an abortion, personally, I am glad you didn't, because I think it is wrong, and that you are killing a human," Taylor's mouth blabbed. Due to her lack of friends, she barely ever got to talk, and now that she was able to talk to another girl, she found herself saying too much. Twiddling her fingers, Taylor was glad that she made Selena happy. Usually people that are bullied become bullies later, but not Taylor. She wanted to be the exact opposite of them, to be kind and just to all. Yes, it does sound corny and like a knight of Camelot, but it is what she wanted and what she was constantly trying to do. Just because those bullies were mean, doesn't mean she had to be as well. Selena seemed like the person Taylor would want to hang out with, and to her, Selena seemed to want the same.

Selena laughed, and realized that this was really one of the first times since it had come out that she was pregnant that she'd laughed with another girl. She'd thought that, you know, girls at least would understand. But really, she seemed to be under the shun. "It's a girl," she said, happy about this. She personally thought that a girl would be easier manage, for one thing. "Wow, I think you're probably the first one. My parents, even my boyfriend think I should get with of the baby. It's a little late for an abortion, of course, but my parents keep saying I should put her up for adoption." Before, she had thought that abortion could be okay, you know, under some circumstances. But now she wondered. It was nice having someone to talk to. For some reason, it seemed that if you were pregnant and in school, it was impossible to have a conversation with anybody that didn't eventually lead to talking about how to felt to be pregnant, what she was going to do with her future, if she was keeping the baby, etc, etc. And honestly, if Taylor so much as mentioned using protection, Selena was going to leave.

Being Sneaky = Trouble
Words: 170 | Tagged: Selena| Status: Complete Feeling pain from her shoes (again), Taylor was glad that she had made Selena laugh. "When's the due date?" she asked, wondering if it really was too late, and remembering the story of a lady getting an abortion two weeks before the due date. Shifting positions, she played in her mind about how she could ask Selena if she wanted to hang out after school. It was Tuesday, so it wasn't one of the days her dad would take her out. But, unless Selena wanted to go to her house or the park it wouldn't work, because Taylor's mom was in no condition for her to have friends over. "I know we just met, but would you like to hang out with me after school?" Taylor wondered if Selena was in any of her classes. It didn't seem like she recognized her, and it would be pretty hard to forget a teenager that was pregnant. Looking down at her watch again, she wondered how long they had to keep chatting.

Selena paused to consider. She knew it was about another month, but she wasn't sure of the exact date. "It's supposed to be around April 29th," she said, "and it's definitely too late for an abortion. I think they're only legal in the first trimester. My parents would probably be cool with an illegal abortion in a 'clinic' in somebody's basement, but it isn't going to happen." Selena was absolutely set in her position. She was keeping to baby. That just wasn't negotiable. Selena smiled kindly to the other girl. "Sure, that sounds nice. Do you have anywhere in mind?" Selena hoped she hadn't just double booked herself. She tended to forget things and nowadays some of the things she forgot were important. She'd almost forgotten one of her doctors appointments in her fifth month and her parents had flipped out. Mentally she tried to remember if she'd forgotten anything but thankfully drew a blank. She noticed Taylor checking her watch and wondered what time it was. Selena didn't usually wear a watch. How much longer until their next class? Selena considered just skipping it. She didn't want to go waddle around the school, amidst all the jokes and comments, yet.

Being Sneaky = Trouble
Words: 145 | Tagged: Selena| Status: Complete While being disappointed there was only thirteen minutes of the period left, Taylor heard Selena say the due date, and wasn't surprised at the date. After knowing lots of pregnant people, she was almost an expert at telling which stage of a pregnancy a girl is at. That made her stare at Selena's belly again, and while she was, she grimaced because Selena said something about illegal abortions in basements, which sounded extremely sketchy. Feeling a pain in her feet again, she kicked her shoes off for the second time. While playing with her flats, Taylor started to think of a good place to go. It seemed the park would be too cold, but the cafe would work. It wouldn't be the best, because Taylor was going to go there tomorrow, but it would have to do. "How about Bread and Butterfly?" She asked Selena.

Selena paused, considering the distance to the cafe. With her size it was difficult to waddle very far. She decided Bread and Butterfly wasn't out of her range even though she'd probably be sore later. "That sounds nice. Do you want to walk over after school or meet up there later?" Selena watched as Taylor fiddled with her shoes and she couldn't help being glad that her feet at least didn't hurt. Her back hurt, but unlike Taylor, she couldn't wear bigger clothing to escape the pain- she was stuck with it. If she could go back in time and keep herself from getting pregnant? No, she didn't think she would. But there were certainly perks to not being huge.

Being Sneaky = Trouble
Words: 173 | Tagged: Selena| Status: Complete "Either one is fine. If you would like me too, I can give you a ride," Taylor said, replying to Selena's question. She was starting to get uncomfortable, so she stood up and re-wrapped the blanket around her. Then she sat back down. Instead of sitting on the box, she sat on the ground, this time leaning against the box. The blanket made it so the floor wasn't too cold, but she could still feel the cold start to seep through. Her re-positioning was interrupted by a noise. This made her sit still, and she listened intently. The sound had come from a few feet away from the steps that led to the basement. She knew she should probably investigate, but she wanted to listen for more sounds and was a little too scared to see what had caused the disturbance. Carefully, Taylor weakened the spell she had cast, making the light dim to barely nothing. The thing she was most concerned about was getting in trouble.
(sorry I took so long re-posting)
