An Unexpected Lunch
Words: 200 | Tagged: Damon and Amelia| Status: Complete Sitting down, Taylor wished Amelia hadn't refused her offer. Wishing she could make friends with at least someone, she pulled out leftovers from the restaurant she and her dad went to the night before. That reminded her of her mother, and her imagination became active. In her mind, she came home to find her mom lying on the couch, asleep, with a book beside her. Her hair would be damp with the faint smell of smoke and cucumbers, because she had just taken a shower after quitting smoking. Taylor just wanted to believe it would be true so much, but she knew deep down in her heart that it would be highly improbable.
Snapping back into reality, Taylor looked at the fork full of noodles in her hand. The seat beneath her was cold, and she had goose bumps all over her arms. She wished she had brought her peach leather jacket to lunch. Looking around, she saw almost all the seats in the cafeteria full, yet her table was completely empty. With nothing to do but eat, she day dreamed about her book. Unfortunately for her, she had forgotten it. Everything was boring until a figure sat beside her.

An Unexpected Lunch
Words: 132 | Tagged: Amelia and Taylor| Status: Complete Damon sat down beside a girl with brown hair with a little bit of red on his cheeks. She was attractive, and looked to be shivering. Wishing he would've been able to sit alone, but not able to due to the crowd, he pulled out a sandwich. Looking over his left shoulder, he saw some of the basketball boys snickering at him. Of course he thought. Once his mouth was free of food, wanting to be polite, he asked the girl for her name. In doing so, he noticed she had a face that looked calm and nice. Hoping it wouldn't be too awkward, he took another bite of his sandwich, and then a sip of his soda. Out of habit, he began bouncing his heel up and down against the floor.

Amelia grabbed her lunch and rushed towards the cafeteria. She knew she was late, but that was okay, there was still plenty of time to eat. She blasted through the doors, and was assaulted by the noise of all the other students. She slowed her walking speed so she could look around and find somewhere to sit. Spotting the three people she had sat with before, Amy headed towards them, but realized that their table was full. That's weird, she thought. There aren't usually very many other students over there. Turning swiftly on her heel, she caught sight of Taylor, her amazing cooking partner from home ec. Amelia contemplated sitting with her, which would be nice, but also a little embarrassing seeing as she had turned her down for no reason. Looking around the room one last time, she made up her mind and strode towards the brown head of hair sitting at the mostly empty table.
Amy tapped Taylor on the shoulder as she carefully lowered herself onto the bench. "Hey." She said. "I know I said I couldn't sit with you the other day, but the rest of the tables are full, so here I am." She mentally kicked herself, thinking how stuck-up she must sound. Opening her lunch, she glanced at the only other person sitting with them. She had already unwrapped her sandwich before something kicked in. He was a boy. An admittedly attractive, heel-bouncing boy. She decided not to talk to him unless he said something first, as she would probably embarrass herself. Taking a bite of her sandwich, she waited for Taylor to say something and break the awkward silence that had blanketed the table.

An Unexpected Lunch
Words: 143 | Tagged: Damon and Amelia| Status: Complete It's a boy Taylor thought. He swiftly sat down and started to nibble at his sandwich, the whole time having her impolitely stare at him, but he didn't seem to notice. After he asked her for her name, he went back to eating his sandwich. "My name is Taylor. What's yours?" She replied. Before he got a chance to reply, Amelia came up to her, and told her that she was going to sit by her. "Hello, Amelia. It's nice that you could join us," Taylor said. She had to hold herself back, because her instinct was to introduce the guy, but she didn't know his name. Taking a bite of her noodles, Taylor was now glad she had forgotten her book. It was weird to her how one moment she was such a loner, and the next, two people sitting by her.

An Unexpected Lunch
Words: 113 | Tagged: Amelia and Taylor | Status: Complete After Taylor replied, Damon was going to tell her his name, but was interrupted by another girl. She (in his opinion) was more attractive than Taylor. Then he remembered his ex-girlfriend, and felt a stab of anger. Taking yet another bite of his sandwich, he heard more snickers coming from behind him. Rather than making a big deal out of it, he ignored them and turned to the two girls. "I'm Damon. Pleased to met you both," he said, holding out his hand. This caused more laughter, but he still held his head high. Hopefully they would befriend him, and his effort wouldn't be for nothing. He couldn't wait to have a friend.

The boy sitting on Taylor's other side introduced himself as Damon and held out his hand. Figuring it would be awkward to try and reach over Taylor to shake his hand, Amelia settled for a small wave instead. "I'm Amelia, but you can call me Amy if you want." She told him with the tiniest of smiles. She noticed that when Damon hand introduced himself, snickering had erupted over on the other side of the room. She glanced over to see a table full of basketball guys shooting looks at the table where the three were sitting and laughing quietly. Amy gave them a good hard glare before returning to her food.
They shouldn't laugh at him. She thought. He's just being a gentleman. Anyways, I think I prefer handshakes to pats on the back or hugs. After finishing her sandwich, Amy moved on to her yogurt. She wished that her sandwich had made less crumbs, but that's just the way her food seemed to work. She hoped her yogurt did't follow the lead of the flour and bread and make a mess, because that would just be gross.

An Unexpected Lunch
Words: 172 | Tagged: Damon and Amelia| Status: Complete When the boy sitting next to Taylor held out his hand, she took it. Thankfully, he didn't yank his hand up and down. After hearing some laughter, she witnessed Amy giving the critics a bad look. Taylor recognized the boys as some of the ones on the boys basketball team. Again, Taylor started to shiver. Darn you cafeteria she thought. Taking a bite of her noodles, she knew it was a reactive thing to be blaming the cafeteria for being cold, but she didn't care too much. It was fine with her, as long as she didn't say such silly things out loud. Getting annoyed by the silence, she did the easiest thing she could think of. "What does a fish say when it runs into a wall?" she asked the two teens sitting beside her. She was in the middle, and she quite liked that position. After wondering if she should invite them to sit with her tomorrow she decided against it, because Amy might decline her offer again.
