Vargas stood there, looking ridiculous, covered in the mud that caked his face and his clothes, that, in spite of the heavy downpour, would not wash off. When Kairi apologized, and then began to leave, he, honestly felt a little... hurt. After their awkward meet, their run-in with the Beast and their thrilling run through the woods, and this is how it would end?? "No!! wait... uh... I know, that I was a little stubborn back there, but... " His voice faltered as he watched her wave goodbye... Before he knew what was happening, Vargas was at Kairi's shoulder, turning her around to look at him, and he stared at her, and stared for what seemed like hours... When he realized what he had just done, Vargas swayed a bit, blushing like never before, as he had never done that, as if he could help it, it almost seemed... impulsive. "U-uh... well... I guess, maybe you could be right, about the Beast... still being out there..."
Vargas, not waiting for an answer, began to walk in the direction that Kairi walked, and hoped that she would follow. He had never bunked down with ANYONE before... would they be afraid of him? Would they think little of him that he didn't live in those oversized boxes that they called home? Would they... "No... stop it. Calm down, I'm sure it'll all be just fine..." Vargas silently pleaded with himself to keep his concerns down, Kairi seemed really sweet, and she seemed like her family was nice... Perhaps things wouldn't be so bad, to get a taste of their life, how they lived in "real" homes... suddenly made Vargas curious as the winded pair soon came across Mushroom street.
