Kai was walking along the pathways in the park to find the favorite spot of him and his older brother when they were younger. While he searched, he had his headphones on playing Japanese music, new and old. It was taking him longer then he thought. "I could have sworn it was around here. What's going on?" He keeped walking around in search for their spot. Then he looked around him, he was in their spot, or what's left of it. Kai turned off his music, took off his headphones, and stood silently still. He noticed that he was standing on concrete, new concrete. He was next to a big tree, it felt somewhat familiar to him as he stared at it. It was the tree where him and his brother would play together when they visited the park. But now it serves as a decoration to a new picnic area. "Wh-what?" Kai couldn't believe his eyes, what used to be a part of his childhood was now demolished and replaced. Tears started to form in his eyes as he remembered all of his good memories, gone. He didn't know what to do, there was nothing TO do. The red-head couldn't hear anything but the birds silently chirping what he thought was a sad melody.

Kairi sat in a tree overlooking a new picnic area. She had climbed up it just a few minutes ago, and had stopped to catch her breath. Man, she thought, taking another deep breath, I didn't know Sakura trees were so tough to climb. . . After taking another minute or so, the brunette finally stood up to take a better look. "Wow, it's like the forest goes on forever!" All kinds of trees sprouted around her, most of which were in bloom due to it being Spring, and clashed into a beautiful symphony of white, pink, and purple.
As time past, Kairi began to pick up more and more sounds: birds chirping, wind howling through the branches, leaves rustling, crying. . . Wait, crying? The brunette abruptly shifted her gaze to directly below her, where she saw a boy with fiery red hair. Isn't that Kai? Kairi recognized him from when they cosplayed in the Courtyard at their school. With a sort of grace she never knew she had, the brunette swung down from branch to branch until she stood at one directly above her friend. Suddenly feeling dizzy, Kairi sat down instead. I think Kai is crying. . . "Kai! What's the matter?"

Kai put his headphones around his neck, then tried to wipe away the tears on his face. It was very stressful for him to take it all in at once. He tried to be strong, but continued to cry, alone, with no one to comfort him. All of a sudden he heard noises from the trees, but he couldn't look up, gravity was pulling him down to the ground with all its strength. And Kai couldn't fight it. The red-head fell to his knees, continuing to cry in the silence. Next thing he knew, he heard a voice call out to him. It was Kairi! Kai managed to look up at the brunette, still with tears trickling down his cheeks. What should I say? I can't speak to her like this! There was a pause of silence between the two. The red-head got back up to his feet very slowly. "N-Nothing... I'm fine." He looked down at the ground so she couldn't see his face. Clenching his fists, Kai turned away from Kairi, and started to walk away from her with sadness, anger, and frustration.

Kairi sat there, watching the redhead's pathetic performance. What is he so upset about? She thought, narrowing her eyes. When he looked up, tearing streaking down his face, and saw her, she felt a strong urge to go down there and comfort him, but didn't want to risk embarrassing him. He's crying on his knees in front of a tree, how much more embarrassed can a guy be? As he got to his feet, Kairi prepared to leap down and face him, but he turned and started walking away. "Hey, Kai! Wait up!" She called, finally jumping down from the tree. Pausing a moment to wipe the bark off of herself, the brunette then jogged to catch up with her friend.
"Kai, there's definitely something wrong," she started, trying to think of something to convince him to tell her what was bothering him. "Guys don't usually cry in front of trees for no reason." Kairi walked beside him, matching his pace as he tried to get away from her. His bangs covered his eyes, so she couldn't tell what he was feeling. "Kai, c'mon, don't ignore me." After several minutes of trying to get his attention verbally, Kairi lost her patience and grabbed Kai by the shoulder, swinging him around to face her. "Hey, I'm trying to talk to you!" When she realized how forceful she was being, Kairi loosened her grip slightly. "I can't help you if you won't tell me what's wrong. . ."
